epson 400 printer

I have windows XP on my pc, is there a driver to enable
me to check my ink levels .
on windows 98 I could do this.
I have tried installing the printer form the cd that came
with the printer,but windows wont allow it
 
See if there is a Status Monitor driver package for your printer at the
Epson website. If not, it's probably because it's long discotinued and
Epson decided it wasn't economically viable to write one for XP.
