Ending "access denied" process

Q

Q56

Running WIN2K PRO on a new box and tested a keylogging
program -- its an access ctrl box on a security PC and
wanted the added security of knowing what entries and
actions were done by operators in case we had to "undo"
something.

PROBLEM: The program's trial period expired before we got
around to the uninstall -- who knew the program wouldn't
shut down and wouldn't let you uninstall it after the
trial period expired?!

So the PW doesn't work and we can't access the program to
uninstall without BUYING it. The program is "locked in"
and running cannot be shut off. Tried "end process"
and "end process tree" under admin rights, but program
denied access.

QUESTION: How to you end a "rogue" process on a program
you no longer have access to? Enquiring minds want to
know -- so we can get rid of this program! Tried
contacting maker, but no response.

Use StartUpCpl, tip 2620 in the 'Tips & Tricks' at http://www.jsiinc.com,
to stop it from starting. Then remove it from the registry and delete its files.

Thanks ... but the program -- desktopscout / svagnt.exe --
is hidden from CP add-remove programs and doesn't appear
in the startup listings for the program you referenced,
either. Any other ideas?

I tried deleting it from a command prompt, but still
get "access denied" errors.

Is there an equivalent to MSConfig utility in WIN2K? If
so, perhaps I can disable all startups and run only
essential windows functions and disable and then delete
this nuisance! Who knew?
