Can't End Process in Windows 2000 server

When I click on a process in Task Manager and click "End
Process", I get the message "Access is denied".
I am an administator on the server, Why can't I kill this
process? This is not a windows process, but an
application process.

The "Access is denied" message doesn't always mean that you don't have
rights to do something, but it can also mean that for example the process is
in such state that killing it could cause problems. Of course, there are
user right that control various things. Some of these rights are not granted
to administrators by default. Check local security settings for user rights
asignments.

If you just want to be able to kill almost any process, get free Process
Explorer utility from www.sysinternals.com. When task mananger doesn't allow
you to kill a process, process explorer usually does. I think process
explorer switches user rights on the fly and thus can kill any process.
