Enanbling Java

For some reason I cant get my computer to run sites such as my excite, or games.com. I used to use these sites often but since installing windows xp they dont work. The sites say I need to enable java. I enabled everything I caould find under the security thing and set it to low but still no luck. Any other suggestions?

Due to a dispute between MS & Sun Micro MS does not have java any more
To download java
