enabling standby in XP

I've got a laptop that previously had the 'standby'
feature enabled (ie: from start menu it was possible to
put the computer into standby mode). After having to
repair XP (thank to blaster) I find the standby feature
is disabled.

I've also checked the drop down menus in advanced power
options and find the standby option is not there either.

Does anyone know if it's possible to enable the standby
feature without having to reformat the computer?

Hi,

You are missing supporting drivers. One or more of the device drivers
currently installed do not support the standby function, therefore it is not
available to you. The solution is to update them from the system
manufacturer or hardware vendor (not Windows Update).
