Enabling Account not showing on Login Screen?

W

What-a-Tool

Changed account type in "control userpasswords2" to Administrator. For some
reason it changed the account to a Guest which doesn't show up in my login
screen.
If I go back into "control userpasswords2" from this account, it tells me it
is an account type of "Other / Debugger"
If I go into Users from the Control Panel, it tells me I am a guest.
If I go into my Admin account to Control Panel / Users the account doesn't
show up at all.
The only way I am able to access it is <Login screen / CTRL ALT DEL type in
user name and password.

Anyone now how I can get this account to show up on my login screen again?

Not sure if I am following you here, as this makes no sense at all. And
have no idea what could have possibly changed an Admin account to a Guest
account but......

The System Administrator becomes hidden once another admin account is
created. To gain access to the system admin account, you either add it to
the Welcome Screen by:

TweakUI/Logon/Show Administrator on the Welcome Screen
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

Or...

Enable/Disable Administrator on Welcome Screen (Line 5)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Or...

Press Control/Alt/Delete Twice for Pro and Boot into safe mode and login for
Home.

Other than the above, what else have you done/installed recently?

I have 2 other earlier posts that explain how I got to this point : (subject
lines)

"Locked out of my own computer by stupidity! Help?"

&

"3rd Party software to change account type? (rather than just
password)"

I now have a newly activated Admin acct. , but the 2 accounts that were
inexplicably changed to Guest (I explain how this happened in those other
posts, your guess is probably better than mine as to why it happened) are
still on my machine, are still Guest accounts, and I still don't have access
to them from my admin account and they still don't show up on my login
screen.

Have no idea why they were changed to guest acounts either - but your tip
(Kelly) that changing another account to admin hides the system admin
account made me think - maybe they weren't showing because I tried to chg
them both to admin accounts and they confused the system? and hid each other
somehow?
So working with that thought (right or wrong) I went back into
userpasswords2 and changed them both to standard user accounts , logged out,
and whtdayaknow, they re-appeared.

So now I'm back were I started, everythings fixed, I'm good to go, and I
learned a whole bunch along the way.

Everyone who piped in to help - Thanks

'Welcome.

But you are only sort of fixed. Meaning is that, added Admin accounts
should still be listed on the Welcome Screen including or excluding the
System Admin account.
