CTRL-ALT-DEL (secure) login

I'm told that in Windows XP Pro, if I go to the Control Panel and then User
Accounts, I can enable the use of CTRL-ALT-DEL to login via the Advanced tab.
However, I have no tab there! When I go to the control userpasswords2
dialogue box (Advanced tab), the secure login option is grey scaled and I
cannot change it. What's going on here?

If the computer is a domain member, policies may exclude this option.

You may still be able to change the setting by way of a registry edit.

In HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
Set the DisableCAD value to 1

(it's a reg_sz type)

I do not think that the computer is part of a domain. How would I find out
to be sure? (I use the Welcome screen to login, but when I've used the
classic login, I'm pretty sure I didn't have to enter a domain along with my
user name and password.)

I got the computer used from a store that sells mainly used systems. It
came with Windows XP Professional pre-loaded on it with backup discs incase I
want to wipe everything and reload. The discs are a Norton Ghost image, so
it's not really a fresh install.

Control Panel > User Accounts > Change the way users log on or off > Uncheck use the
welcome screen.....
