Administrator not showing up on welcome screen

The administrator acct won't show up on the welcome screen. I can only
access it by ctrl alt del. I have checked the settings in control
userpasswords2 and advanced options and they are correct. It used to show up
but after I couldn't install a program with that login I created a new
administrator logon and then installed the program. It seems like that login
is corrupt somehow.

The Administrator logon is not corrupt. Your system is working as designed.
You apparently have XP Pro and when you create a second user account with
administrative privileges, the built-in Administrator account is hidden.
This is because normal best practice is to not use the built-in
Administrator account for daily work but to leave it for emergencies only.
Since you were apparently using it for daily work, just keep your extra
user account with the administrative privileges for any emergencies.

To show the built-in Administrator account on the Welcome Screen (from MVP
Doug Knox):
