emails disappear

I was creating a rule to categorise sent messages to client folders and after
executing the rule whilst in the 'sent' folder a number of different messages
located beneath the 'rule' also disappeared.

They are not in any other folder (i.e. deleted items) and a global search
cannot find them. This is not the first time this has happened and am worried
obe day I'll open my inbox and all will be gone!

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
 
What is the text of the rule? What do you mean when you say that other
e-mails "under" the rule have disappeared?
