Email receipients' addresses

When I wish to create a new email, Windows Mail will not pick up the
recipients name from my list of contacts - the only time it does is if I
have sent or received an email from the recipient on that day.
With Outlook Express you only had to type in the first letter or person's
Christian name and the entire list of contacts under that initial/name came
up for you to make your option. At present I am having to type in the full
email address for every recipient including group emails which is
frustrating and time consuming.
Also - scrolling the list of contacts is irritating - why on earch are the
'A's at the foot of the list and why does it scroll so fast you shoot past
the name you are looking for?
I would appreciate help with this - I understand I cannot instal Outlook
Express on Vista - one of several things I do not like about the Vista
system.

Windows Mail auto-completes from a separate list of 29 addresses you type
in, not from your contacts. This list is stored in the registry.

If you wish to remove old or incorrect addresses, there is a utility to
clear recently used email addresses in Windows Mail...

http://www.winhelponline.com/articl...tly-used-email-addresses-in-Windows-Mail.html

To retrieve addresses from your contacts folder, click on the To: button.

This is one of the features that works properly in the newer Windows Live
Mail.

To sort the contacts:

In the Contacts folder:
Change the View to "Details".
Right-click on the "Name" column heading, click on "First Name", then click
on "Last Name"
Click on the "Last Name" heading to sort by that, or click on "First Name"
heading to sort by that.

In a Create Mail window:
Click on To:
Click on the "Name" column heading... it cycles thru 4 different sorts

In the Contact Properties:
click on the down arrow at the end of the Full Name box
