Email Reading Pane Slider Bar

In Outlook 2007, I have the reading pane set to "bottom" and all folders
sorted by "Received" ordered top to bottom. The slider bar is at the bottom
of the pane and the most recent email is highlighted.

Occasionally, when I click on another folder, the slider bar is at the top
and the oldest email is highlighted. It is not always the same folder (but
it happens frequently in the Sent Items folder) and it does not occur
consistently.

Anyone else experiencing this? Any advice on how to prevent it?
