My daughter and I share an Outlook mailbox. I'd like to password protect
some messages in a folder - can this be done?

Sort of. If you create a new PST and move those folders to that PST, you
can then password-protect that PST, since a password applies across an
entire PST.. Right-click the root of the PST in the Folder List and choose
Properties. Then click Advanced and Change Password.
