Email notification posted under my User Name in Windows XP login

Under my user login name, it keeps saying that I have 1 unread email message
and I have 2 problems with that. The first is, I don't have an unread email
and the second is that it is listing my hotmail account email, which is
supposed to be private. I've gone to hotmail and made sure there are no
unread, cleared cookies, restarted, etc...I can't get rid of it. Also, when
I go to User Accounts in the Control Panel, under mine and managing network
passwords, it is blank and I've never set it up to use a NET passport
account. So basically, I'm stumped. I hope someone can help me.

Hi

Download TweakUI from
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp and when
installed go to Programs>Powertoys for Windows XP>Tweak UI - then go to
Logon>Unread Mail - disable it in the right hand pane.

Otherwise the Unread Mail can be disabled via the Registry - navigate to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UnreadMail\[Youremailaddress],
double click on 'MessageCount' - in the right hand pane - and change the
value to 0(Zero).

***If you do opt for the Registry please 'tweak', please backup the Registry
first. A good program to do this - as well as being able to restore the
Registry - is ERunt:
