email hyperlinks

When I click on an email hyperlink on a web site, what
should happen is that Microsoft Outlook should appear,
but nothing happens except a tone. This fault has only
occured since installing windows xp and office 2003.
 
Noble, Is MS Outlook set as the default mail client?
