Email delay delivery

One of my users here is trying to send an email and wanted to delay it on a
later date. He stated that it used to worked before where if he sets up a
delayed delivery for this email, click on send & it goes directly to his SENT
folder and it says on the email that it will be delivered on the date he
specified. But now, when he does it sends to his Outbox folder and would not
allow him to shutdown Outlook not unless he delivers his mail in his Outbox.

Details:
Outlook 2003/WinXP - His email is setup to read on the exchange server side,
his email storage cap has not exceeded. Not sure on why this one is no longer
working but is there any possible way to get this back where it shoots
directly to his SENT folder rather his Outbox? Please advice. Thanks.

I don't remember scheduled email ever being sent to the Sent Items folder
until it is sent. I have always seen it sit in the Outbox. Are you connecting
to an Exchange server or not?

I dont remember also, but my user is really pressing on this and he said it
used to go straight to the Sent Items folder rather than Outbox. His mail
delivery is in the server side - also tried setting up a pst on his inbox but
that didnt rectify the issue.

Thanks.

Hi Delbert,
The one of your users probably was using a Delivery Delay Service from the
server. The copy of it went to the Sent Items Folder as all others and the
message was held in the servers mailbox. If you have a delayed message in the
Outbox and want to exit, Outlook pops up a window to tell you so and ask you
if you want to exit anyway .All you have to do is click YES.

Thanks Dave. But if you click yes to this message prompt, will the delayed
messages stored in the Outbox will still be sent out eventho Outlook is
shutdown?

Just so you know that I just tried it and it didnt work - the delayed emails
are still sitting in my Outbox. Thanks.

Hi Delbert,
Exiting Outlook and opening again has nothing to do with your delayed mail
sitting
in the Outbox. It will sit there until the delivery time set for it to be
send comes up.
It is understood that if the set time for the delivery is in the period the
Outlook is shutdown, it will be delivered when you open again.

Ok I see what you're saying - But let's say the defined time for these
delayed messages is the time where I had shut down my Outlook. The next time
I start Outlook, will the delayed messages in the outbox be sent out on the
date/time that I specified even if I started outlook 2 hrs or even days past
my specified time on my delayed email messages?

I'm testing it as we speak...Thanks.

Hi Delbert,
As we agreed that Outlook cannot send messages while it is shutdown
or you are not connected to the Internet, I think, I now understood what
you are looking for. (You tell me if I am wrong).
I think you want the date and time shown in the message to be as you
scheduled for the delayed delivery, despite that is was sent a day later.
The day and time in sent messages are according to the system when
the message is send in fact!
Regards,
