Email confirmation of booked resources

I am running Exchange 2000 server with Outlook 2000 / 2003 clients.
My end users would like an email confirming when resources (meeting rooms etc) have been booked.
A pop up does appear when a meeting has been booked but most of the users seem to ignore it.
They would like to keep something in their inbox.

Regarding an "auto" email confirmation, I too would like to see a solution
to this issue. (GroupWise made it very easy.) I have tried setting a Rule
but am only successful if the room or equipment is both Resource and
Required. (Required is all that is needed to get an email.) Since Jonpy's
users would like an email they could keep, the additional step might work. I
would like to send an "auto" confirmation / reminder. The users would
quickly figure out that they could avoid getting the reminder if they didn't
add the resource to Required. I don't want it to be an option.
