I have an emachine laptop and decided to do the updates at Microsoft. After
it installed Sp2 it rebooted and has not started since. It comes up to the
screen to pick whether to use safemode, last good config, and so on. No
matter what I choose the Windows screen comes up as if its loading for about
10 seconds, it flashes a blue screen to fast to read and then goes back to
the screen to choose safe mode or one of the other ones. Any Idea how to get
this back?

Did you get an actual Windows XP CD with the e-machine or just a Recovery
disc? If you have a Windows XP CD you could try running a Repair Install.
This will remove SP2 and could bring your system back to working state. See
How to Uninstall SP2 Using a Repair Install here

or
Check here http://win-xp-sp.blogspot.com/2004_08_01_win-xp-sp_archive.html
and scroll down to "Uninstalling Windows XP SP 2 using Recovery Console: "
or consult with e-machine tech support

Thanks for all the replys, even yours Plato.

Emachine tech was where I was at first before I posted here. They are stumped.
I'll probably just replace the hard drive and re-load the OS.

Thanks again.
