elp- can not boot laptop; need DOS command prompt

have a HP Pavilion zv5200 laptop.

I can not boot it.---NO FLOPPY DRIVE

If I boot without Windows XP CD it hangs
in the Windows loading process.

It will not allow me to boot into safe mode, safe mode w/
command prompt or normal boot.

I can not boot from Windows XP CD either. The CD is good.
I checked it in two PCs. The CD/DVD drive is good also.

Anyway to get a command prompt to fix this?

Check the owner's manual for directions on getting into the system
bios setup screen. Once there, look around and set the boot order to
boot from cd first. Then try booting from your Window's CD
