Easy way to set up home LAN with Win2K/Win98

The header says it all. Is there an easy guide to
connect two boxen with the OS's described.

I understand that TCP/IP without all the other MS BS
can be achieved.

Generally you need computers on same network/subnet, file and print
sharing installed, and same user logon name/password on each computer. ---
