earthlink email account error

I tried to set up Outlook with my earthlink email using the instructions from
Microsoft Office Assistant Online "Use Outlook with Earthlink e-mail." I
followed the instructions completely and accurately. I did the test account
settings thing and everything was successful. However, when I went into
Outlook to send a message I got this error: Task 'Earthlink - Sending'
reported error (0x8004010F): 'The operation failed. An object could not be
found.' Any suggestions on how to fix this?

This error is usually associated with Exchange issues. Are you scanning
mail with an anti-virus program? If so, disable it and try again.

By the way, what version of Outlook? What type(s) of account? Is the
Earthlink account the only account listed in your profile?

I have the identical problem and have worked with Earthlink Support twice to
correct it, with no results. I ended up using Outlook Express to get my
email, using the identical settings as I had placed in Outlook 2003, which
would not send/receive. This is most frustrating because I would like to use
the program with the greatest number of features.

What were your difficulties with using Outlook to access an EarthLink
