Can't send email using earthlink account.

I have a SBS 2003 Premum R2 server with clients using Outlook 2003.
Everyone can send and receive email with the accounts established in
Exchange 2003 sp2.
However, One user needs to have a pop3 account added to her oulook profile.
It's an earthlink account that requires authentication to send.
I have tried everything posted at earthlink to no avail.
She can receive but cannot send using the pop account.

Anyone have a suggestion?

Yes, we tried every configuration documented for an email client.
The problem is not the email client, but rather how the servers are talking
to each other.
The user's account works fine at home with the same settings we are using at
the office.
We just can't send from the office.
We cannot get anyon from earthlink to comment or offer assistance.
I think their server is asking our server for confirmation of send and it
won't reply, thus the email is rejected.
