I have windows XP and up until recently I e-mailed photos by clicking on the
e-mail button which took me into to my hotmail where the pictures were
automatically attached. I now have an error message that says 'Server errorin
'/' Application - The resource cannot be found (Fault code HTTP 404). I would
appreciate help with this.

I read from another board that hotmail.com is now hotmail.msn.com (changed
its address) Someone said once you get the error. On your address bar just
change hotmail.com to hotmail.msn.com but don't change anything else. Not
sure if it works but it might be worth a try. Let me know if it works!!!!!

Thanks for you response I followed your instructions adding 'msn' in to the
address and it then took me to sign in to my hotmail, however it then came up
that the page wasnt available/web site may be experiencing problems. I dint
know where to go from here

Just wondering...can you sign in to your
Hotmail account if you go to the following link?
http://login.passport.net/uilogin.srf?id=6528

Have you recently received a message that
asked you to verify your Hotmail password?

I'm glad to hear you were not asked to
verify your password because it was a
scam.

OK...do you access your Hotmail on the
web or do you use Outlook Express?

If you are using Outlook Express to access
your Hotmail account...try the following:

I cannot guarantee it, but the following method may work:

How do I make OE my default mail client?

Go to...Start / Run...and enter the following:
"C:\PROGRAM FILES\OUTLOOK EXPRESS\MSIMN.EXE" /reg<
(copy paste everything between the > < but not including the > <)
(But first...Check the path to msimn.exe to make sure it is correct)

Click...OK...

Then open Internet Explorer and go to...Tools / Internet Options /
Programs tab...and set OE as the default mail (and news) program.

Good luck.

I'm sorry but I'm a novice at this, but I have managed to set OE as my
default mail client with the help of the ISP as I had messages indicating it
could be their problem. However although they say I should now be able to
send e-mails I'm now getting this error mess:-
The service is currently unavailable. Try again later. Account: 'Hotmail ',
Server: 'http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp', Protocol:
HTTPMail, Server Response: 'Service Unavailable', Port: 0, Secure(SSL): No,
Error Number: 0x800CCCF0

Are you able to point me in the direction for this?

What are the steps you take to send the e-mail
when you receive the error?

Do you have more than one e-mail account set
up in Outlook Express?

It may be a server problem...try again tomorrow
and see if you receive the same error.

I have now found out that Hotmail no longer supports the use of OE, so I have
reset this and with the help of the advise from Ramesh I have now been able
to resolve the problem with sending photos. Many thanks for your assistance
with this matter.

Ramesh, MS-MVP

You're welcome Carole. It appears that the problem will be fixed at their
end. In that case, you may Undo the procedure in my link.
