Photo term.: Images vs Photos

MapleE.

Hi:
I never thought of e-mailing any photos until I want to e-mail a friend
overseas and
also pending friend's wedding-pictures. Then, there are many things I need
to learn.

My questons are:
(1) What is a difference between Photos and Images?
On printing Images, it was SO quick to print while Photos took several
minutes to complete.
Why does it happen? Because, there seems no difference as to seeing them by
my own 'eye.'

(2) Also, what is 'pixel?' Does it mean 're-sized' photos?

Thanks always.

Same thing different names. Usually when
referring to computers they are called digital
images.

The difference is the file size.

You could have one image that is only 100 KB
that would print very quickly and you could have
another that was several MBs ...of course it
would print much slower.

Digital images are composed of pixels...
if an image is 640x480 it means...
640 pixels x 480 pixels.

If you are looking for a way to resize your
images for e-mail purposes...the free
PowerToy ImageResizer may be useful
to you.

You can download it from the following site:

http://tinyurl.com/36n

Then you can open any folder that contains
images and you will have an option to resize.
Just right click the selected image files and
choose Resize Pictures from the menu. You
can select one image or a whole group.

The program will place the resized copies in
the folder with your originals.
(Tip: *Never* overwrite your originals)

To insure that images in both portrait and
landscape orientation are resized to the
same dimensions...go to...Advanced...
and enter the largest number in both fields.
IOW...for 600x800...enter 800 in both fields.
