e-mail showed in in-box only 1 min, then disappear, where it go?

i had a problem on receiving e-mail, once i click the icon "send & receive",
i heard the sound "dun"(means I've got the e-mail, and i saw that there a 1
e-mail showed on the in-box. However it was show only for 1 minute, after
that, it disappeared. Although I tried to find where is that e-mail go, I
cannot find it wherever the rubbish bin.
on the other hand, i have used the Outlook Express, there is no problem, i
can get that e-mail.
what is the problem of my Microsoft Outlook? Settings Problem?
what can i do now?
 
Version of Outlook?
Could it be that you have a filter applied to show unread mail only?
