e-mail images

Lately I have been getting e-mails with images but the images aren't there.
Instead there is a large square with a small square in the upper left corner
with a small square, a small triangle, and a small circle inside. Is there
something missing in my system?

If you send yourself a message with an embedded image, do you still see the
placeholder instead of the image?

NB: Outlook Express Tools > Options > Sending > Mail Sending Format > HTML >
"Send pictures with messages" must be enabled.
