My DVD player on my laptop will recognize and play DVD's but will not recognize CD's either programs or music. Can't figure out what the problem is and would appreciate any help. Thanks in advance
Did you contact the vendor from whom you bought the computer and explain the reason. i feel that it is a hardware problem or some mis alignment in the configuration of the drive to read certain types of media.
I didn't contact Dell yet as it's an older laptop (3 years) and it's out of warranty so I don't think they would be of much help except trying to sell me a new drive. Just wanted to see if there was anything I missed as far as troubleshooting the problem before I looked into a new drive.
