dvd rom drive problems

My dvd/cdrw drive suddenly does not appear wen i open My
Computer up or any where for that matter. When i go to
the Device manager it says "Windows successfully loaded
the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the
hardware device. (Code 41)" The troubleshooter doesnt
help. Ive got no idea wats wrong with it, very strange.
Im running a laptop and the product in question is
Toshiba DVD-ROM SD-R2212, if that helps at all. Thanks
for any help
