DVD-ROM doesn't play DVDs

My DVD player doesn't seem to read DVDs, it tells me to "please insert disk
into drive" while the disk is already in the drive, but it reads burned
CD-Rs, CD-RWs and regular music CDs with no problem.
What might be the problem?

My PC is a Sony VAIO RX-560 & it includes:
-Pioneer DVD-ROM DVD-117R
-Sony CD-RW CRX175E
-Windows XP Home

How many more times are you going to post this?! Chris gave you some
solutions - it's very disrespectful to just keep posting the same thing over
and over without trying what people are suggesting.

No one is going to email you, you know.

You've posted three times in half an hour. Please refrain from doing so
again.

Listen, I am not an idiot. I am posting this again obviously because I have
tried all of the links that Chris has suggested and my problem still exists.
Maybe you should try not making automatic assumptions about an individual
which you are unaware of their situation.

Really? You do surprise me...

Well why didn't you say that instead of merely reposting? My remarks still
stand. Had you prefixed the repost with "Thanks, Chris, but I've tried
everything on those pages and I'm still having problems" - I wouldn't have
made the remark.

Maybe you should try not making automatic assumptions
about an individual which you are unaware of their situation.

Maybe you should explain yourself better instead of expecting people to be
clairvoyant.

I have the same problem; after reading some of the help stuff, seems
that it requires a DVD Decoder, whatever that is. I wish someone
knowledgeable about this would shed some lite on it. Thanx.
Cheers-Herb.

The problem with your initial quip is that it was somewhat arranged in an
offensive manner. You heedlessly made presumptions based on my actions
without putting any rational thought into consideration.

Firstly, your opening statement is sarcastic and insulting, as if you're
blatantly advertising to the message board community that I've deliberately
posted, and will continue to post, the exact same thing over again in the
form of a question. Did it even occur to you that maybe I am relatively new
at this message posting experience, or that maybe I was unaware of my
actions, or maybe that I felt my original post was incomplete and lacked
information, thus resulting in a revised and slightly different subsequent
post? Indeed your objective on maintaining proper posting etiquette is
clear, which I completely agree with, but it is actually irrelevant to the
main topic and it surely does not need to be publicly announced. You could
have replied your comments to me personally so that I may fix my errors and
so that it will not be repeated, instead of making it insultingly apparent
on the entire message board. Also, your following comment, "No one is going
to email you, you know," is tauntingly offensive and is unnecessary.
Expecting loads of emailed assistance or replies was not my intention.

Secondly, your response towards me begins with a direct insult, implying
that I'm ignorant or simply stupid. Why is it that I surprise you? Have we
been acquainted? Are you familiar with my previous actions? Am I
automatically presumed as obtuse to you? And what exactly are you surprised
of? In addition, do I need to clarify everything every time I post a
message? Should I post every single technicality just to satisfy a single
individual's need for unnecessary accuracy? Must I always "prefix my
reposts" properly to avoid smart and opinionative remarks from occurring in
the future? Instead, couldn't these issues have been mentioned to me
personally and privately?

Your remarks and responses are rather insolent, which I'm certain you are in
disagreement with and you surely don't feel the need for some form of
apology on behalf of your shrewd insults and subtle mockery. You should at
least think about it thoroughly before you make any biased comments or
statements that might be offensive to others, yet which you might seemingly
be unaware of.
