DVD-RAM drive is not connected...

When I run my DVDforum or WPtool it gives me the "DVD-RAM drive is not
connected". I looked in my bios & the CD/DVD rom drive is recognized
there, but not in any of my windows systems, i.e. device manager. I've
changed the bios so the CD/DVD rom would boot before the hard drive,
but in doing so it doesn't recognize the Toshiba recovery disk I have
inserted. I can still open/close the CD/DVD drive & hear it spinning,
the light comes on but it does nothing. I've gone to Toshiba's site to
download the drivers for the DVD & installed them, but I don't think
they installed correctly b/c now I have 2 new folders on my C drive
called "Acoustic Silencer.temp"DVD RAM.temp". Lastly, I've called
Toshiba tech support since their online support web pg doesn't work.
They tell me what I thought that it could be a malfunction of the DVD
drive but I want to be sure I exhaust all possiblities before I
purchase a new one.

Right now I'm not convinced that the drivers are installed correctly &
I feel there are more things I can do.

How can I make my D:\ accessible? I am trying to install the new Norton
Antivirus and it says D:\ is not accessible. The request could not be
performed because of an I/O device error..

What do I need to do to fix this?

Return the software to Symantec and ask for a refund. Be thankful it
wouldn't install. Instead of using Symantec "junkware" go to.....

http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php

and download the free AVG antivirus software. Easier to setup and
use, consumes less resources, and you don't have to put up with
Symantec's defective activation process.
