DVD Files Discrepancy?

Hi everyone. I was burning a collection of files to DVD by using Select All,
then dragging them into the window of Sonic MyDVD, much like I would to copy
the files from one explorer window to another. Sonic provided no problems to
this, and still allotted about 400 MB of free space on the disc, and so I hit
burn. Once the disc was ready, to ensure everything was there, I selected
everything on the harddrive I had copied and hit Properties, and did the same
to the files on the DVD. To my surprise, there were 200 fewer files on the
DVD than in the source folder.

My question: Are these missing files neglible items, like Thumbs.db and
similar files, or should I be worried about losing valuable data?

Only you can tell. What files were not copied?

The thing is, I won't know unless I go through each and every folder, and I
have hundreds. I was only looking at the Disc Properties and the Properties
of the collection of files selected to get my numbers

So do you think I should just ignore it, or should I check with Sonic to make
sure? And, if able, can you point me in the direction to do that?

Please consider the following:

A. You say you have a couple hundred folders.
B. The thumbs.db file in each folder is not copied over.
C. You are "missing" about 200 files.

Given A, B and C, the thumbs.db files are what is missing. Do a search
and count on thumbs.db files is the simple way to check.

I did a search, with criteria that I was to search even through hidden files
and folders, and system folders, and subfolders, that there were apparently
NO thumbs.db files on my computer, yet 88 of them on the disc.

Ok, you win. Please tell me how you could copy thumbs.db files to a DVD
disk that don't exist on the hard drive. You likely don't have SHOW
HIDDEN and SYSTEM folders set in Folder Options. Please look again.

Nope, I made sure that was on too. I have now gone through the folders on
both the source and the dvd, and found that again, my dvd software feels it
neccessary to exclude burning important things like my photos. So I know what
was missing, and the totals all add up, so I suppose problem solved.

I think I would double check the files that didn't copy to determine why
the software did not work as expected.

I have found that most all of the files not copied were JPEGs that were
transferred to me via USB from a Mac. It seems, upon futrther inspection,
that for every file in the folders I was given, there existed another file,
with a ._ before the same file name, such as ._PICT0084.JPG, and after
collecting all of them in the folder in question, it equalled the number of
files missing. Why do you think this is so?
