Hello,
I have windows XP ( Service Pack 2 ), and two burning devices one is a
"SAMSUNG CDRW/DVD SM-348B" which lets me read CD/DVD discs and burn CD+-RW
discs, and the other is a "DVDRW USB 16X" which lets me read CD/DVD discs
and write CD +-RW discs and DVD+-RW discs. I am trying to use CD/DVD discs
as portable file systems i.e. I want to add/delete/modify files on the
discs. I enabled CD recording on both devices via the properties dialog and
did a few tests, here are the results:
1. Dragging files onto the DVD icon in explorer produced the error message
"You cannot copy or move files to this CD-ROM drive" which I thought was odd
as its a DVD drive.
2. Dragging files onto the CD icon and then running the burn wizard did a
successful burn, and I could add more files to the CD but could not
delete/modify files that were already on the disc.
So to sum up I would like windows XP to use my CD/DVD discs as fully
functional file systems, letting me add/delete/modify files on them. Can XP
do this? If so do I need a particular disc type i.e. +RW or -RW. If windows
XP can not do this is there any third party software that would let me do
this, I dont want to use Sonics DLA system though as the discs would not be
readable on a machine that does not have Sonic DLA installed.
Any help would be great, cheers.
