DVD DRIVE PROBLEM

I am having a problem with my dvd/rw drive which i brough about 5 months ago

its suddenly will not recognise any disc in the drive and will not read or
write to it

according to the device manager it is working properly and it will eject the
drive bay from the keyboard

i have checked tha cabling which appears to be okay

have removed the device from the hartdware and it reinstalled but still not
working

it is not the disks becuase they work in the other drive

whenever i put a disk in the drive i get an error message saying insert disk
into drive

sure sounds like hardware failure...

should still be under warranty , take it back to the store(or check it in
another machine if available)

Sounds like the drive has died. Since you reference "eject the drive bay", I
assume you have a laptop. Contact the laptop mftr.'s tech support for
repair/replacement.

When I changed my OS from Home Edition to XP-Pro I recieved those
Messages..it was the ROXIO software that was not accepting the DRIVE because
my Registration was NOT recognizeing my PC-anymore..ROXIO gave me a
FIX(free)stateing that UPPER+LOWER Filters are needed to operate the
DRIVE(burn)..the FIX activated the FILTERS...w/each Re-Install I need to RUN
this FIX or my Ext. DVD-burner does not Operate.

As an aside. Just because windows says it's working properly doesn't
mean that the hardware is still good.
