DVD and CD drive won't open

I have a HP 740b DVD-RW drive, and a secondary generic CD-RW drive.
Up until about 2 weeks ago, they worked fine. Now, the drive bay
won't open, and it doesn't recognize the CD's in the drive. The
drives are shown in the BIOS, and the drivers are new. When i press
the eject button (either on the device, or from my computer) the light
on the drive holds solid for about 5 seconds, then blinks about 5
times, then nothing. I got the CD's out using the manual eject
pinhole, but the drives still will not operate.

Any Ideas?

try taking out the drives from the computer and uninstalling all drivers and
then put them back in again. if that doesnt work it could be the computer
