Rom drive doesn't work anymore

Hello,

I'm running XP with a Samsung SD-612 DVD-CD ROM drive. Now the drive won't
run any normal CD-rom's, blinking light when anything is inserted. My other
drive, CD-RW works fine but is the secondary drive. Any suggestions of why
all of a sudden it doesn't work?

It has a hardware failure and needs to be replaced.

These things seem to be failing rather frequently lately.
