DVD drive drivers bad?

I have 2 DVD drives which suddenly don't work anymore.
Device manager shows the ! with a yellow circle for both drives.
I have uninstalled and rebooted.
I tried to find newer drivers with the update driver wizard.

The error is: A driver service for this device has been diabled. An
alternate driver may be providing this functionality (code 32).

I ran the troubleshooter and it said to get windows update. I did.
The rollback driver button didn't get anything. It said there were no
backups or something like that.

This is what I have for my Plextor DVD writer
Driver Microsoft
Date 7/1/2001
Version 5.1.2535.0

What can I do to enable my optical drives?

That's sometimes the result of uninstalling some CD/DVD burning software.
If so, replacing drivers doesn't help, because it's a little registry issue.

This may help:

Thanks..............I had Roxio and Nero installed. I deleted Nero and ran
the registry fix and it all came back.
