DVD Decoder

Hi -
I just installed Pinnacle Instant CD/DVD, version 8, and when attempting to
play a Video DVD, I got the following message:
"Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because a compatible DVD decoder
is not installed on your computer."

I didn't want to install the S/W that came with the drive, as I wanted the
features of Pinnacle. BUT - I find that Pinnacle doesn't include a DVD
decoder for playback of Video DVD's. Is there a freeware software decoder
out there somewhere? Google doesn't help much.

The Fraunhofer DVD codec is free as far as I know. You can download it
from e.g.
