got a new netbook. freecom DVD writer does not work. in device manager get
error message "this device cannot start (code 10). followed the steps on the
support page, but without any success. uninstalled device, updated driver, no
luck either. anyone any idea how to solve this (OS Windows XP) thank you

I would suggest un-stalling the driver, shutdown the PC
and removing the cable from the CD or DVD drive and or the drive(s),
and then reboot Windows.

Shut down Windows and turn off the PC one more time
and re-connect the cable to the CD or DVD drives.

Now Power up and let Windows re-discover the devices and install the
drivers.

Also: CD-R drive or CD-RW drive is not recognized as a recordable device

tried what you mentioned, but no luck. any other thoughts?

was the first thing I did. freecom does not provide drivers. according to
them it should be related to that. indevice manager updated the drivers, but
did not help
