DVD & CD-RW not recognized

S

Scott

I am running a Gateway AMD desktop that has recently
stopped recognizing my DVD and CD-RW. I get the message
telling me that the device has been improperly ejected,
which is impossible as they are both internal devices and
I are securely connected (I opened the case just to be
sure). This started happening sometime after I installed
the following Windows 2000 Updates - 817606, 819696,
822679, 823559, 823980

Anyone who has seen this before please let me know.

Thanks,
Scott

The improper ejecting should be due to your drivers glitching *really*
badly. I've had this problem too, and ended up needing to never try to use
the drive for digital playback.

I am having a very similar problem in that Windows 2K does
not recognize my cd-rom and dvd/cd-rw drives. I get a
message that no cd drives are connected to my computer. I
have not, though, downloaded any Windows updates
recently. I have found no help in the MS knowledge base.
