DUN Not Connecting

I've got an Acer Aspire running XP Home.

My normal internet connection is via ADSL through a NAT router, I keep three
Dial Up ISPs active by dialling in every so often.

Recently I was staying at a relatives home and tried to use DUN - the modem
makes the normal noises, it then says 'verifying username and password', I
then briefly see 'Registering your computer on the network' at which point
it drops immediately giving me error 720 suggesting a TCP/IP or protocol
problem.

I've tried this with four different ISPs and all the same problem.

My computer connects fine over a LAN via ethernet or WiFi, the modem can
send a FAX or connects me to a BBS, I've tried my original phone line but no
luck.

I've checked my TCP/IP and modem settings with a known good connection but
still no joy.

There are no obvious problems with my computer so I am totally baffled - has
anyone any suggestions where to look now?

Hi,

Have you tried going into the Properties of the dial up networking entry of
the ISP on your computer and then going into the Security Tab, and then
putting a checkmark box on the "Show terminal Window" to see what kind of
error message you get when you manually type in your username/password?

I'll give that a try - thanks.
