Dumb blonde needs help

C

Cristina

I ran norton system works and got this message
C:\WINNT\system32\MAPISRVR.EXE cannot access a necessary
file "gapi32.dll". Looked at Microsoft to fix. Told me to
first download XP files using several disk then use disk 6
and go back to windows 2000 etc... When I put in the disc
all I got was not enough room. Did not say insert another
disk just not enough room. My computer is not working
right. I'm desperate for a dumb blond step by step help. I
truly do get confused easily and need some simple to do
help if possible. Thanks for any help!

Dave I really appreciate the fast response. When I did
what Norton showed - I found what really seems to be the
problem. Norton said to paste the info into the
C:\Windows\System32 folder. I do not have a System32
folder.
I got this message - AT top it said

CWIMPORT.EXE-Unable to locate DLL

(IT then said on that little screen)

The dynamic link library VIM32.dll could not be found in
specified path C:\ProgramFiles\Common
Files\System\Mapi\1033
\NT;.;C:\winnt\system32;C:\winnt\system;C:\winnt;C\winntsys
tem32;C:\winnt;C:\winnt\System32\Wben

I do not know what I have done but I promise it was not
related to drinking too much. To me it sounds like Greek
for "Now I am scewed".
Do you have any advice or suggestions as to what I should
do now. Again, thanks for any help.

If you don't have a system32 folder then your OS must not be Windows
NT/2000/XP/2003

Dave,

When Symantec Support article instructs:

Navigate to the folder C:\Windows\System32

they undoubtedly refer to Windows XP. At the bottom of
their page it says:

Operating System(s): Windows 2000, Windows XP

Christina probably looked for C:\Windows\System32 while
her operating system contains C:\WINNT\System32.
