Dual Installation of XP Pro

Upgraded system from XP Home edition to the Pro. When i loaded the new Pro,
it went into a continous start up loop. I then re-inserted the Pro CD. On
completion of the second installation everything seemed to be okay until I
tried to run a program. It then told me system resources were low. I went
into the system maintenance area, and it appears I now have two versions of
the Pro loaded into the system.
How can I delete the unneeded operating system (if this is in fact what I
have) from the computer so I have enough disk space to multitask.

Rich, thanks for the reply.
Yes there is an option at start up. By pressing f 10 at start up, I can
navigate to either version of the installation. When I highlight the first
version that was installed, the system then goes through the loop at start
up. Second version runs okay.
I am not sure where to go in the system to delete the first version. If it
is the windows folder in the My Computer, I only see one folder. Could the
second folder not be present or hidden? The Xp home addition that came with
the computer is already inaccessable and system recovery did not bring it
back, I hate to delete anything that would corrupt the rest of the system and
make it inop. Under the View System Information in My Computer, system
properties/system restore, it indicates that the drive - status is
suspended....??
Thanks again.

boot the good system. Enter msconfig from the RUN box.
View the boot.ini.

What do you see for both the good and bad menu selections?
For example, mine says
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP
Professional" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn

Dave that's pretty much what each says. How so I delete the bad setup?
Thanks
If one item from the menu logs you on successfully and the other
doesn't, there must be a small difference in the boot.ini
text between the two choices. The devil is in the details.
