Dual disk dvd player not seeing dvd in drive

I have a combo dvd/cd rewrite drive and cd drive on my system. After using
the combo drive to play a cd that I was copying to the cd drive, the combo
drive would not recognize a dvd in the drive but still see a cd. What could
be causing this?

wow...this same thing has happened to me. in he last week or so my combo cdr
w and dvd rw drive has not been able to recognize any dvdrs i put in..but it
recognizes cdrs...could this be a virus? someone please hepl!!!!
 
When this problem started I also started getting a RAID Controller error in
device manager. So far I have been unable to clear the error. They may be
connected.
