Hi,

WinXP.

Linux's boot loader will recognize the XP installation and add it to the
bootloader (GRUB or LILO) at setup. WinXP's bootloader cannot be used to
load a Linux installation.

If you use a third-party boot manager, follow their recommendations, but
generally with them it won't matter which order you do it in.

If you are exploring Linux, I would suggest using the boot floppy method to
boot Linux. If you mess up your Linux installation, you will not have any
problem deleting the Linux partitions and starting over.
During Linux setup, choose to boot from floppy when given the choice, this
will leave the XP bootloader intact and all you do is slip in the boot
floppy to boot Linux.
