dual boot XP + 98SE

Z

Zer0Cool

i have seen 2 ppl already ask about problems having added
a drive and making it xp after having 98 se already as c
drive...

u must install Xp first when setting up a dual boot
machine, i also beleive Xp must b the primary master
drive...after installing xp, then install 98se on a dif
drive
thats really all there is to it.

MS website has posted info about setting up a dual boot
machine, search "dual boot" under XP search and u should
get the article, which explains in detail what i said

i ran into the problem 2 years ago and followed the
direction in that article with no problems, its pretty
easy, just annoying to have to start from scratch and
install xp then 98se..

just as a note, if u use NTFS in win XP, win 98 will not
see those partitions under ntfs, but win xp can see FAt32
drives

good luck

Zer0Cool, your information is not correct. It's the other way around. You
should install Win9x first and then
WinXP. The whole purpose of a dual boot is to make both OS's easily
available at bootup and be able to
access each one from the other. When you install XP last it's bootloader
is placed on the C: or Win9x
partition so that you get a menu at bootup which allows for the
selection. Win9x or WinXP. For more info check here
