No, I wasn't jesting. If HP doesn't have a driver that you
can make work and contacting HP directly for help is not
possible (you don't want to call or write) then buying
something new may be your only option.
BTW, MS doesn't write drivers, so your problem isn't Windows
or MS's problem. They cost a lot less now than they did a
few years ago.
When I was young and working, I had lots of money and girl
friends, but once was, isn't still always true.

| Surely you jest about that "buy a new printer" option. Do
you know what
| these things cost? The ink alone would pay for most other
printers,
| including ink.
|
| I'm pretty sure this is a printer driver problem, since
the photo editor
| works fine with other printers. What's more, the photo
editor isn't the
| only app in connection with which this printer
malfunctions. OTOH, while it
| doesn't malfunction totally with other app's, it does
malfunction with the
| same app's in other OS'.
|
| Surely there's a driver somewhere that actually works with
this seeming very
| practical printer. It takes the place of several other
printers in my lab,
| since it has two trays and is capable of holding letter,
legal, and tabloid
| paper. When it's working, it also does a pretty nice job
on pictures.
