Printer Drivers for HP 2500C Series

There is a problem with this driver provided in Windows
XP, the printer is able to print any page with color, but
if a black and white page is sent to the printer, it will
ask to use the rear feeder, and will print in a really big
font and with gibberish. (I have tested the problem in two
different computers with two different HP 2500C+ Printers)

The same problem was reported two years ago by Jonathan
Frewin in comp.sys.hp.hardware.

Hi Eric
Get the driver from HP
Eric Booth

I have the same problem - could you advise me where to obtain this? I have
trawled through the HP web site download area and cannot find any drivers
for XP for this printer.

Thanks

Hi Cari

The W2K drivers from HP work a treat.

The problem is that the XP drivers dont work with simple b/w printing,
unless you use PCL5 revision... and if you use them, then almost everything
takes an age to print, and colour (image) printing is absolutely useless.

As the original post :
"There is a problem with this driver provided in Windows XP, the printer is

I really need updated drivers... Microsoft say that I need to get them from
HP, but AFAIK, HP have not generally released updated drivers.

Any further thoughts?

Thanks

Drop a line to HP and ask if they intend to revise the drivers. They're the
only real folks who can help at this point and I'm sure you would like to
know whether to continue on in hope that one day everything will be fine or
perhaps know whether you should make the decision to dump the printer and
change to a more recent model.
