Driver Updates Section Grayed (Shaded) Out

In using IE6.0's Tools-WindowsUpdate-Scan for Updates
menu, the Critical Updates for Service Packs and Windows
XP sections are blue-bold. However, the Driver Updates
component is completely grayed-out. The error message
is "An error occurred while scanning for driver updates.
We are not able to display any updated drivers for your
system." I am guessing that the problem involves a
corrupted or missing file, or perhaps a registry glitch.
Does anyone know of a possible solution?

Driver Update on my machine was noted to have grayed out a few days ago. It
has not changed since. At the time, I didn't take any action for I was
solving a more pressing problem. Now that you reported the same --- How
have you invoked that error message?! Curious --- I am more convinced the
problem is at the MS's server end, not my computer, nor yours.
