Drive C is read-only

Using Partition Magic Pro I tried
to partition C drive 190GB but it
tells me"....
"The drive you selected is marked as Read-Only
and is not available"

How do I fix this?

Any help or advice appreciated...

Sounds like you're trying this operation on a live system which isn't
possible. You might also poke around here.

I wouldn't use PM as many users find out sooner or later their system
will be totally screwed up. Most PC shops I know advise not to use it as
it can bring unpredictable results. Far better to decide on partitioning
your disk at installation time to take the Win2k system files, then you
can use the remaining partition of your disk for further division/s
under Windows Management.

First try checking the security tab under properties (right clicking C:
drive) and check the permissions on it. Else if you really need to
partition further, backup your data/software download files, and
re-install Win2k and partition away when asked.

My experience, and that of my friends who have used it, has been just the
opposite. Partition Magic has been absolutely reliable. Like so many
other situations, it apparently depends on the particular situation. Of
course no one should use any sort of program without backing up the data
first.
