Problem: I get the following error when I run the "Test
Hardware" program from the "Sounds and Audio Devices
Properties" window (Voice tab) from the Control Panel.
"An error occurred during Direct Play Voice Setup. The
error code is 0x80004005." "Windows cannot execute
DPVSetup.exe, use Add/Remove Programs control panel to
install."
1. I have read Knowledge base article 282882. It doesn't
matter what position my Audio Playback, Hardware
Acceleration is in, it still don't work and I still get
the message.
2. When I run the DirectX Diagnotic Tool (Network
tab), "DirectPlay Voice Options" button, I get the same
error.
3. I have uninstalled/reinstalled my sound card drivers
(SB Audigy Audio B400)- Same problem. I have reinstalled
DirectX 9 (cannot uninstall Direct X) - Same Problem.
Microsoft acknowledges that it's a problem with XP
Home/Pro - does anyone know what is being done to correct
the problem? Anyone fixed the same problem on their
system?
My PC: Gateway 500XL P-4, 2.6Ghz, 512Ram, NVIDIA GeForce
FX5200 video, onboard Sound Blaster Audigy sound.
Thanks.
