Dpvsetup.exe file not found

Hi,

I had to reinstall WinXp-home due to technical problems. After reinstalling,
I cannot access the voice playback (control panel>sound&voice>voice tab, test
sound etc..), all the options in most of the tabs shaded gray i.e. cannot be
activated!

When I try to play any music, sound etc. I get the message - " Cannot not
locate Dpvsetup.exe file, use install/uninstall to load the file"! I looked
up Mcrosoft Knowledgebase - and an acticle advises "to move the hardware
acceleration bar to full" and then adjust the registry. But there is noway I
can access the hardware acceleration as every option is "grayed-out".

Registry to amend..as below: - Article 555574

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\
MICROSOFT\DIRECTPLAY\VOICE\AUDIOCONFIG
Expand AUDIOCONFIG to get FullDuplex, HalfDuplex, and MicDetected
..Right-click the FullDuplex value and Modify DWORD Value to 3 in the Value
Data field and click OK. For the HalfDuplex and MicDetected DWORD values,
should be 3 and 2 respectively. Close the Registry Editor and reboot the
system.

[note:-before proceeding one must close or End task Dpvsetup.exe or
DirectPlay ]Voice through the Task Manager.]

In the registry I have the VOICE option but no "AUDIOCONFIG"!

How do I get my palyback sound back ?

Thanks for you reply/s.

Hi Sanjay.I don,t know if this will help, but you might want to check your
disc for errors.Sometimes when you reload there might be missing files.Click
start, run.Type chkdsk and run this will check the hd for errors.Another thing
you can do is if you have your xp cd put it in and load other apps.extra
apps.It will load other drivers. It is on the menu when you load xp.hope it
helps.TERRY.
